Went to the Saturday Auckland U2 concert a couple of weekends back.  Caught up with Marney who I hadn’t seen for a long long time an old Varsity friend.  Then it was off to U2, managed a pretty good spot with the other 40,000.  Impressed by the light show but not so the audio.  Sound at Mt Smart Stadium does not sound good, really basey and not enough high frequency to hear the vocals properly or maybe we were too close or not close enough?, but still enjoyed it heaps.

Even managed to use Yogi’s old phone (now Amanda’s new phone) to take a few photos of the gig….here

On the 7th November 1926 my Dad was born, so on the 7th November 2006 (the same day as the Melbourne Cup) my Dad turned 80.

This was celebrated at the Cossie Club in the Tron (Hamilton) with family and friends in the weekend (11 Nov).  It was great to see lots of old familiar faces e.g. like my old piano teacher when I was only 10 years old!

Well done Dad for making this far.

Invite Design (by me) & photos are coming……….

Sunday lunch at Te Whau Vineyard restaurant on Waikehe to celebrate Hannah’s birthday, now this is the perfect way to spend a Sunday!

After a sprint to catch the ferry and a 30 minute recovery ride to Waikehe Island, a great long lunch with fine wine was had.  Check out the photos for the stunning location, view and the menu for the scrumptious food.  With summer around the corner any excuse will get me to do this again….

After the success of the Whangapoua mid winter Xmas weekend, the next themed Whangapoua weekend “Dine & Dance” was a cracker!!  With spring in the air and the wonderful discovery of the Martha Stewart website, “garlands” were the theme of the day.  (I, up until now had no idea what a garland was!).

Check out the photos (more to come soon).  A great time had by all – Mike and Hannah with the hula hoop dance routine, the wonderful spring flower hat made by Kate, and the mix of beer, champagne, red and white wine, desert wine, fruit wine, port and limoncello, I think most people felt a little slow on Sunday except the kids and pregnant wives.

Looking forward to the Summer Whangapoua survivor series……..
